Federal University Oye-EKiti Seeks FUTA’s Assistance in Engineering Programme
Desirous of enhancing the knowledge and experience of its staff and students in the Field of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (MME), Management of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal University of Technology, Akure. The scope of the MoU includes enhancing the development of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Practice, Physical Metallurgy, Extractive Metallurgy, Corrosion Engineering, Mineral Processing and Mechanical Metallurgy.
Other components of the MoU is conducting Joint Research and organizing symposia that will allow FUOYE students access to the required facilities at FUTA for academic, training and research purposes, under the direction/instruction and supervision of FUTA.
Addressing the Management of FUTA the Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Kayode Soremekun represented by Professor Babatope Alabadan Dean, Faculty of Engineering, expressed delight in the actualization of the MoU saying FUTA is the best Institution to partner with in the area of engineering. He also thanked the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Fuwape for his apt response at all times when called upon on matters relating to academic advancement of the relatively new Institution.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fuwape said FUTA still remains the best University of Technology in the country and is more than willing to partner with a young but dynamic Institution such as FUOYE. The Vice-Chancellor commended the Management of FUOYE on the Institution’s growth in a short time of establishment with most of its programmes accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), which is not an easy feat to accomplish.
Fuwape commended the Management of FUOYE for seeking assistance from viable sister Institutions around it and urged it to sustain its growth.
“It is the right thing to do in the growth process. This will give direction on how to do things. FUTA had similar experience many years ago at its inception. I encourage you to seek partnership with relevant and viable Institutions. In no time you will become mentors to others too.
Our laboratories and other facilities (human and materials) are available to you and we see you as a partner in progress” Fuwape added.
FUNAAB Gets Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Accreditation
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has presented a certificate of accreditation to the University. With the feat, FUNAAB has become the first and only federal university in Nigeria to be ACCA-certified.
Speaking on the procedure, which led to the accreditation, the Acting Head, Department of Accounting, Dr. Sunday Kajola, disclosed that over a year ago, representatives of ACCA Nigeria visited the Department for possible collaboration in the training of professional accountants and students.
However, before the recognition could be given to the institution, the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Accounting programme had to be evaluated by the ACCA head office in the United Kingdom.
According to him, the programme’s structure and past examination question papers were submitted for the evaluation exercise and had turned out successful, which had resulted into the certification being given to the University.
Highlighting the benefits of the certification and collaboration, Dr. Kajola disclosed that ACCA Certificate had global acceptability, as holders of the certificate can practice as accountants anywhere in the world while the University would be listed among the international affiliated institutions of ACCA, which comes with an added premium over other institutions in Nigeria, running the accountancy programme. The Department, through the Association’s corporate social responsibilities to its affiliated institutions, could benefit from the provision of study texts, modern teaching aids, computer hardware, accounting software, exchange programmes, workshops and training of accounting lecturers.
Presenting the certificate, the ACCA Education and Learning Manager (Nigeria), Mr. Victor Ayoola, lauded the curriculum content of the Department of Accounting, which he said cumulated in the international accounting body, accrediting the Department and approving a waiver of seven courses out of the 14 courses to be taken by students for the ACCA professional certification. He stated that seven-course waiver was unusual at first attempt, adding that FUNAAB was the first University in Nigeria to get seven exemptions, at its very first attempt. According to him, ACCA, which was established in 1904, had over 198,000 fully qualified members and 486,000 students worldwide, noting that “ACCA members are among the world’s best-qualified and most highly sought-after accountants and can work in every sector you can imagine”.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ololade Enikuomehin, who was represented at the occasion by the Dean, College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), Professor Akeem Salami, acknowledged the ACCA accreditation, which he said was an indication of the University’s commitment to producing competitive and industry-ready graduates in line with its vision while assured the ACCA team that the University would not water down on its standards, but would be open to innovations.

ASUU strike: Not again! - SolutionClass.Com.Ng
SIR: The tertiary education sector is sitting on a ticking time bomb. The federal government as of yesterday, Thursday October 29 is yet to honour its Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
I do not believe that the federal government wants ASUU to go on another strike. But if the situation extends beyond the October 31 deadline, then ASUU will very likely go on strike again.
The President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, had, while announcing the conditional suspension of the strike, gave the Federal Government until the end of October to fulfil its promises.
We don’t want another strike, however short it may be. The universities and the students are yet to recover from the last one. Exams that should have long been concluded are only being rounded up now. Subsequent holidays that are supposed to follow have been shortened. The academic calendar has been disrupted. We can’t afford to have further disruption of our academic calendar. It’s already one disruption, too many.
Lord knows how many Nigerian students had accidents and others that died on our bad roads when traveling to and from school at the commencement and cancellation of the last ASUU strike. We can’t afford to risk the lives of these students again.
The federal government has to find a way to institutionalize swift response mechanism to prevent ASUU from going on strike in future. I beseech the federal government to do the needful and avert this impending calamity.

UNILAG 2017/2018 UTME Merit Admission List Out [Recommended]
Congrats to the admitted candidates!!!
UNIMAID 2017/2018 UTME/DE Admission List Released
Scoring higher than the cut-off mark does not guarantee admission – JAMB
ABUJA-THE Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has said the board would not consider any candidate without O’level or A level requirement this year.
JAMB candidates Oloyede insisted that only candidates who meet the O’ level and A’ level requirements and other criteria set by institutions would be offered admission in 2017/2018 session.
He spoke in Abuja, at a Training and Sensitization Forum on Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, for admission offers, candidates and stakeholders. The registrar explained that candidates with higher scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, may not be admitted but could be eligible for admission consideration.
“Scoring higher than the cut-off mark does not guarantee admission but makes the candidate eligible for admission consideration. It is not UTME that qualifies the person. It is O level, A level that qualifies a person for admission, “he said.
“That is why you can go from here to UK, you can go to Ghana, Uganda, Republic of Benin, nobody ask you of your UTME, they ask for your O level because by law it is the school cert that qualifies you not JAMB. “We admit students when we do not know whether or not they are qualified. You will say you took JAMB, you had 300 later you will now come back and say he is not qualified. Why? No O level, no mathematics, no English when you have not considered the real issue which is: does he or she possess five credits?”
“From this year we have said no. before you can recommend a candidates you must ensure that that candidate has the O level or A level requirements and in addition to other requirements.
“JAMB will not consider any candidate from you unless you can convince us that he/she is qualified by O level or by A level.
“A situation where we admit students and you now turn round and come back and say they are not qualified because they do not possess the O level because the O level is the qualifying certificate. It is not JAMB score.” The registrar also said the board would no longer consider or regularize admission of candidates done illegally by tertiary institutions.
“We know that we have abused the process. What we have been doing is to send N5, 000 each to JAMB in the name of regularization without capturing their picture, without capturing anything. You pay N5, 000 and then they are regularized.
“We have not stopped to do backlog but from 2016 upward we will not allow anybody to do backdoor admission. Anybody that is not properly admitted is not properly admitted and cannot benefit from regularization.
“You cannot admit anybody under the table. Let us know your problem and let us collectively solve the problem so that you do not need to do such thing. “We don’t have accurate data because what we have on record is different from real life. We cannot continue to do that.
We will protest to the whole world that we have 500 students in our institutions but in reality they are about 1 million but 500, 000 thousand have been admitted illegally
JAMB Admission and school Admission - Important Facts You Should Know!

Jamb admission list.... Jamb has a body has the power ( given by Nigeria senate ( to grant admission to any student in any institutions within the shore and soil of Nigeria either the candidate meet the school requirements or not.
Jamb is responsible for over 4% of admission in Nigeria institution and it's one of the reason while it's important to check your jamb admission status regularly. Jamb have the names and scores of all utme candidates and few who meet the admission requirements will be selected and will be given admission without permission or approval from the Nigeria institution.
Such candidates can visit the institution to claim the admission given by jamb however some institutions does not welcome such and may end up rejecting the said candidate.
School admission.....
Schools are meant to collect and submit the names of qualified candidates to jamb by following the admission quota has stated by jamb. Any school who fail to abide by the rules set by jamb may find themselves in situation whereby their admission list will be rejected by jamb and a new names will have to be drafted and resubmitted to jamb for final approval.
Jamb will issue admission letter to all candidates submitted by any institutions in Nigeria and such candidates can use the admission letter for present or future purpose.
It might interest you to know that both jamb and Nigeria institution work together to ensure the success of Admission and also to speedup the admission process......
UNIBEN Admission List and What You Need To Know
Uniben Admission List and what you need to know......
Uniben is one of the leading and most competitive Nigeria institution and it's Paramount for all candidates to know more about the admission. Uniben admission is based on merit and it favour candidates with higher score in jamb and post utme.
Uniben is a federal universities and there are varieties of courses approved by NUC.
The 2017/18 jamb admission deadline is now around the corner and all institutions in Nigeria are trying so hard to meet up with then admission deadline released by the joint admission and matriculation board.
This Year admission was a bit delayed compared to previous Years as a result of the delay in the sales of 2017 UTME form . however the jamb boss has urge all institutions to release admission list as soon as possible.Moreso...this year admission takes a new turn as candidates who failed to secure admission in their choice of institutions can easily choose and apply for another institutions.it's not a new development however the number of institutions that accept such is now very high compare to previous years.
As of today..... Uniben is yet to release Admission list however the listvof successful candidates will be published soon via the 3 available platform. The jamb official websiteThe school website The school notice board.
When will uniben release Admission list ?
There might be no precise date for the question above however we can pinpoint the exact month based ofln information from a reliable source in the school.
Admission list will be released soon and all candidates should be prepared for payment of acceptance. The cost of acceptance fee is not high compare to what it was in the past. Some institutions charge up to 40,000 as acceptance while some charge a little less.
It's important for all prospective applicants to know that admission list will come in 3 batches and the first and 2nd batches will contain up to 75% of candidates that will be admitted into the institution.
It's advisable for any candidate that fail to secure admission to take other available admission alternative as we all know that jamb result will only value for 1 year and not 3 Years as early suggested.failure to secure admission simply means that such candidates will start afresh in 2018/19 Admission session.
3 easiest way to secure admission in Niger institutions are Selection of non competitive course.
Choosing your state institutions. Scoring very high in your screening exercise.
With the 3 points above , you can take advantage of the loopholes in the admission system and the school will be yours.....
Federal Polytechnic Oko Bans Beard, Afro Hair And Trousers, Students React (Details Here)
Oko, Anambra State, Nigeria.
The management of Federal Polytechnic Oko Anambra State has issued a statement through the examination committee prohibiting its female students from wearing trousers and the male students from keeping beard, afro or grown hair during the examination.
In what seems to be move to ensure absolute compliance to directives , the School's Anti -cult unit has been mandated to prevent defaulting students from accessing the examination halls.
Reacting to the new development, a student from Department of Mass communication who identified himself as Ikenna described the move as "senseless, oppressive and uncalled for". He further described the new management of the polytechnic and in fact some of the lecturers as agents of oppression. In his words "I don't know what the new acting Rector wants to turn the school into. I don't know if they wants to turn this higher institution into a secondary school? About a month ago one of the lecturers slapped the SUG president for just no cause. They even once mandated everyone to wear the school polo or departmental polo to the examination centers especially at Mass com exam center but the SUG gave it a fight"
Reacting to the issue Chidimma, an ND2 female student from Office Technology department advised that the actions of some of the lecturers and even the anti cult should be checkmated.
"Here is like a jungle were the lecturers and the anti cult are gods. A lecturers will force you to buy his half baked textbooks at exorbitant prices, some will even slap you and threaten you with carryover if you dare ask for your rights. The anti cult once you get reported to them, pounce on the student without questioning. The government should look into the abuse of power going on here."
The Students' union Government of Federal Polytechnic Oko is yet to react on the matter.
