According to the July 2018, edition of the Webometric ranking of world tertiary institutions, the University of Ibadan, Oyo state has been declared the best Nigerian university.
Although rated 905 in the world, the 70-year-old Nigerian premier university emerged the best among 100 Nigerian tertiary institutions, Punch reports.
Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state, which is eight years old since its inception, was rated as the best private university in the country, having emerged second overall best in Nigeria and 2,287 internationally.
Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state, another private varsity, was rated third best university in Nigeria and 2,824 in the world ahead of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, which rated fourth locally and 3,050 globally.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife was rated fifth best Nigerian university and 3,545 in the world, ahead of the University of Port Harcourt; and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, appeared in the eighth position among Nigerian higher institutions and ranked 5,025 in the world. Ahmadu Bello University and the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, completed the list of the first 10 universities in the country.
In a statement on Sunday, July 29, Tunde Olofintila of ABUAD said the institution was founded by a renowned Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Aare Afe Babalola, in a bid to deal with the academic decadence in Nigeria.
Olofintila said that ABUAD was established to “be a practical example of how problems militating against the growth of Nigerian universities can be solved and lead others in quality and functional education.”
“In the eight years of its existence, the university is popularly known as the fastest growing university in Africa. Its College of Law was acknowledged as the Best College of Law in West Africa by the NUC, while the College of Engineering was described by the Nigeria Society of Engineering as the template for engineering education in the country. The college has won global awards in London and USA.”
Another great option was MAUTECH. You could remember it as Federal University of Technology Yola, but it had since rebranded. Once again, you can study Architecture at this great university for a reasonable price (₦15,900 per year).

An Open Letter To All Existing And Prospective Nigerian (A Must Read)
Good morning everyone. I hope you had a great night? This is an open letter to all existing and prospective Nigerian undergraduates. Kindly avail yourself to go through some of the most vital points, who knows if it will eventually spur you to greatness.
My friends, do not let anyone fool you into believing that making a 2.1 outta school is inconsequential in getting a great job, that's a big fat lie. It is true that you need to be smart and intelligent before passing those skin tearing aptitude tests, but what makes you qualify for them in the first place is what you have on your certificate, albeit that's not a guaranty that you will pass, but you may never get to sit for them without a 2.1. This takes me to my next point.
BE PREPARED TO DEFEND YOUR 2.1 or First Class. Aside from graduating with a 2.1/first class, develop the mental abilities to pass some of the most logic defying tests.
Here is a simple list of top Nigerian companies you MAY not get the chance to start your career with if you do not have at least a 2.1 straight outta uni:
KPMG,
Accenture,
Ernst and Young,
PwC,
Dragnet,
All tier 1 banks except Skye and UBA banks,
Chams Plc,
Remita,
All top oil companies e.g Total, Schlumberger, Conoil, Mobile, etc., Nestoil,
Concept Group,
MTN,
Etisalat,
Globacom, and
Dangote.
Lastly, if you have the habit of running after top federal universities, stop it! Do not waste your young age chasing shadows. Yes, it is undeniable that great universities make great individuals, however, you must put into cognisance the Nigerian society you live in. Most top employers no longer look to employ candidates in their late twenties or early thirties, neither do they look through the name of university you attended; do not waste your age advantage all in the name of "I want to go to UI". Your so called university won't help you secure that great job you so desire. Presently, the maximum age for graduate trainee recruitment in top Nigerian companies is 26, this is going to drop in the nearest future. So my friends, always think ahead and make that decision now.
This is just a piece of advice. Thanks for taking your time to read. Cheers to a great future!

Greetings in the sprit of oneness and solidarity!
I want to seize this opportunity, to wish all Nigerian and Foreign Students a happy and grace filled, new and a successful deliberation during the inaugural Congress of the Students' Union Government today.

The theme for this year is: *Youth Migration in Africa; Causes, Effects and Sustainable Solutions.* This, hopes to take didactic steps towards sensitizing our Students against the ugly spectres of illegal migration among African youths which from a critical perspective, is killing development, innovations and creativity in the African society and it is further detrimental to the image of Africa in the postmodern world. Hence, an avenue for a philosophical deconstruction against the perceived "greener pastures".

How To Overcome Sexual Immoralities On Campus
After writing on "Why You Should Avoid Sexual Immoralities On Campus", I was inspired to give certain important tips on how to avoid sexual immoralities during your stay in school (and beyond)
Some young persons always argue that it is impossible for a youth to actually hold him/herself away from inappropriate sexual activities. Nevertheless, I will tell you that if I - with healthy sexual urges and hormones, can remain sexually chaste till this moment, then no body on earth should have a reasonable excuse to indulge in sexual immoralities.
All you need is the help of God, and then your determination to adhere to certain practical principles that worked for many of us. These tips have been encapsulated into two broader categories, and they include:
1. Avoid The 'Bad Company Sector' In Your School:
You know, in our society, many parents are usually worried when their innocent children are enroute the higher institution for the first time. Of course, they've seen alot of 'once-innocent' chaps who were corrupted in the University. Once-innocent boys and girls who became terrible adults.
However, when I entered the University, I discovered the University is actually made up of two different worlds: The Postive and The Negative, and that it is up to a student to determine the path he/she will thread.
The Bible says in 1 Cor. 15:33 - "Bad company corrupts good characters." If you want to be sexually chaste, and you don't want sexual immoralities to ruin your bright future, you must avoid some set of people who can dip and influence you negatively into sexual sins.
Listen, not all the pretty and handsome youths you see around on campus are 'ordinary humans' that are with a sole aim of graduating like you. In fact, in case you don't know, some of those attending lectures with you are not recognised as students by your school.
Guys, many of those good-looking ladies are actually working directly for Satan. Some of them are demonic, witches, with Marine spirits. Their goal is to thwart the glories and bright futures of youngsters, and they drop spiritual curses and limitations into their lives through sex.
Ladies, some of those 'cute' guys are actually with a deadly mission: To destroy your life through sex. Some guys are HIV carriers, who have vowed to distribute the virus to as many youths as possible. Beware!
You are not meant to get close to everyone you meet on campus, to the extent that they begin influencing you negatively. Choose your company wisely. Be friends with born-again Christians of like-minds.
2. Avoid Anything And Any Spot That Can Lead You Into Sexual Immoralities:
Avoid eroticals (erotic books, movies, websites, songs, etc) that generates sexual desires and urges. These things gets you dirty before God and they open doors for disgusting acts of masturbation.
Instead, concentrate on accumulating useful knowledge that will make you a much better person in the society. Don't forget to feed constantly on the Bible, as it aids your spiritual growth. When you are solely occupied with the things of God, sexual immoralities stays under your feet.
Additionally, on campus, there are some places you shouldn't be found if indeed you want to live a holy lifestyle devoid of sexual immoralities. You have no business with night clubs, randy parties, ungodly dinners and events. Don't forget to avoid staying in a closed room with a member of the opposite gender for a long period of time.
Instead, regularly attend church and fellowship programs (praise God that there are many fellowships on our campuses now). Also, occupy yourself with productive seminars and workshops that will add value to your life, and you will be fine in JESUS NAME.
Remember, when you are sexually chaste, you will be free from the worries of such things like STDs, unwanted pregnancies and other negative things that accompanies sexual immoralities.
