I Want to be a Fashion Designer –UDUSOK First Class graduate Says

Aishat Biliaminu, a First Class graduate of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUSOK) plans to go into fashion designing. She made first class at the Department of Biological Sciences with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.50. See more details below.

Her ambition initially was to study Medicine and Surgery at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS). But Aishat Biliaminu could not make it as she was offered admission to study Biological Sciences, where she made a First Class. However, the valedictorian says she plans to go into fashion designing. NURUDEEN AKEWUSHOLA (200-Level Mathematics) writes.

The dream of all First Class graduates is to get a lucrative job. But no so for Aishat Biliaminu, a First Class graduate of Biological Sciences of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
The valedictorian, who finished with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.50, plans to be a fashion designer.
For Aishat, a youth Corps member in Edo State, she prayed for a First Class from the day she gained admission into the institution.

According to the indigene of Erin-Ile in Kwara State, she planned to study Medicine and Surgery, but this dream was aborted, no thanks to a low score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

However, she accepted her fate and accepted the course she was offered.
She said: “I wanted to study Medicine initially, but I was not offered admission in 2011. Then, I sat for another UTME the same year and put in for Medicine. I got 88 per cent in post-UTME, but I was not offered the course because of a low UTME score. I was offered Biological Science. I cried when I could not get Medicine. I didn’t like Biological Science.

“I wanted to study a professional course, which my parents wanted. They were also sad when I did not get Medicine. My dad asked me to sit for another UTME, but I didn’t like the idea. I applied to change from Biological Science to another medical course, but I wasn’t successful. I had to accept my fate. I promised my parents that I would finish with a First Class to make them happy.”

Achieving the feat did not come easy for Aishat. Like her peers, she had some challenges.
Was her feat ever threatened by failure? “Yes,” Aishat said, adding: “I was, unexpectedly, given D in CHM 102 and I thought I might not finish with a First Class. My classmates advised me to go to the lecturer and complain, but I declined because it could be dangerous to my academic pursuit. I accepted it as my fate and worked hard to ensure such never happened again.”

Besides, accommodation was another challenge that almost threatened Aishat’s goal. Except in 100-Level, when she stayed on the campus, Aishat said she could not get accommodation till she completed her studies. She squatted for the rest of her stay in the institution.
She said: “Getting accommodation was a major challenge as I moved to higher academic level. I only got accommodation when I was a fresher, but I squatted in my remaining years in the school. It wasn’t that my parents did not have money to get me a good space. I wanted to stay on the campus, but the politics of hostel allocation did not allow me to get a bed space.”

Aishat said she knew what she wanted from the outset of her academic sojourn, which made her invest ample time and energy in her academics. Finishing with a CGPA of 4.50, she said, was below her expectation. She added that the challenges she faced during her studies hampered her performance.

“I believe I could have performed better, but couple of challenges I faced affected me and led to tumbling of my cumulative grade. But, I am still thankful that I finished with a First Class,” she said.
Aishat said she had sleepless nights throughout her days in the institution. Whenever she saw her peers going for night reading, she felt challenged and this spurred her to folow them.

“I saw every classmate as a competitor. Whenever I saw them going to read at night, I would lose sleep because I wanted to maintain my academic standing. This encouraged me to study hard. Whenever I was tired of reading and felt like going to sleep in the hostel, the sight of students reading would change my mind,” she said.
But Aishat, unlike her peers, did not go to the library or classrooms to read. She read in the mosque, where she said she got tranquility and assimilated faster.

She said: “Sometimes, I read early before sunrise because there is high assimilation then. When I woke up, I would take my bath and cook. Then, I would go and read if there was no lecture. But, if I had early morning lectures, I would go to mosque to read after the lectures. I love reading in the mosque because of the tranquility. I spent the rest my time there.

All work and no play, the saying goes, makes Jack a dull boy. For Aishat, it was not all about night reading. She balanced her studies with good sleep and films watching during her leisure.
“Whenever I was not going to study or go for tutorial classes, I attend social function. I always attended meetings of Erin-Ile Students’ Union and our annual day programme. Beyond that, I watch films and also take hours of sleep,” she said.
Aishat advised students to choose wisely when choosing friends. She discouraged students from choosing friends who have nothing meaningful to contribute to their goals. This belief made her to keep friendship with First Class peers, including Bolaji Ajape of Veterinery Medicine, Ola Lukman and Simon Adegoke of Biochemistry.

Asked what her plan is after the National Youth Service, Aishat said: “No time to waste. I have been spending my time learning fashion designing. After my service year, I want to go fully into fashion designing. I have started. I have plans to employ people to sew clothes for me. Although I might eventually go into lecturing, my attention now is focused on fashion.”

Nude Photos Of UNILAG Professor Who Molests Female Students Leaked!

Barely one month after Obafemi Awolowo Univeristy, Osun State was embroiled in a 'sex for marks' scandal, a female student of the University of Lagos has reached out to LIB to share her sad and depressing story of molestation in the hands of one of her lecturers who according to her is a proffesor in the English Department.

The student (name withheld) managed to get nude photos of her molester in one of their 'encounters' and according to her;

    I have been suffering this for months now. Whenever students go to his office for anything he is always trying to touch you. I took pictures of him on one of the days I entered his office. He has made molestation a part of him. I’m even scared for my life in Unilag. That’s why I’m reaching out to you so he can be stopped.

She went on to add that;

    He is a professor in the English department, Faculty of Arts. I am not his first victim. He does this all the time to students. I have completely given up when it comes to academics he has failed me on tests before. When I talked to him concerning it he told me I should know what to do I am an adult. I feel so dirty for even allowing such an old man touch me. But he doesn’t even care.

    As long as you satisfy his wants. I’m tired of everything. He should be stopped before he ruins the lives of other innocent girls in that English department. When he touches me I am always in tears but it doesn’t stop him. Please this is why i am reaching out all I want is for him to be stopped. He is destroying the mental state of girls in Unilag.

    I just want him stopped. I reached out because I don’t want him to continue molesting girls. The English department is like a cult. The lecturers have information amongst themselves. They talk about the girls they have slept with and the ones they plan to sleep with. It has been going on for years.

Below are some photos of the professor allegedly molesting her and several other innocent girls in the English department of University of Lagos. We have nude photos of him that we will not share at this point.

We hope with this LIB report, the school authorities will look into this as a matter of urgency!

MAPOLY Student Dies During Childbirth, After Giving Birth to Twins

A final year student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State, identified as Olatundun Alexander Borokinni allegedly lost her life during childbirth on Monday.

It was gathered that the deceased was an HND 2 Student of the Department of Computer Science, she went into labour on Monday afternoon and was rushed to the hospital.

However, Alexander delivered a set of twins but she had some complications, she was later referred to Federal Medical Centre, FMC Idi-aba, Abeokuta for follow up treatment, but on their way to the hospital the car that conveyed the lady reportedly broke down, which resulted to some delay in their transit.

Meanwhile, it was reported that another vehicle came to their rescue but, at that time I guess it was too late as  Alexander had already give up the ghost. May her soul rest in peace.

RCCG Provides Scholarship In Redeemer's University For Members

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is set to launch a scholarship scheme for children of its ministers and members wishing to study in the Redeemer's University (RUN).

It is no secret that the Visitor to the university and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E. A. Adeboye has severally stated that his vision is that Redeemer’s University students are to be on full scholarship provided by the alumni. He has however acknowledged in recent past that this vision is yet to be realised due to the relatively young age of the alumni.

Investigations have revealed that Pastor E.A. Adeboye already has several students studying in the Redeemer's University whose education is personally funded by him and not the church. It is therefore laudable to note that the church is finally doing something for its ministers and members and also, the university.

To benefit from the scheme, there must be an active participation in the scheme by members, parents, students, etc (at an appropriate level according to income).

This participation can be as low as 500 monthly or more. A recent whatsapp message revealed that the church and the university will soon make a public announcement on the scholarship scheme but it seems application for admission is in progress.

The Scholarship is not a full one but has high ranges from Pastors to members.
All candidates seeking admission to Redeemer's University can visit adms.run.edu.ng to complete the online application and note the dates for general screening which scholarship applicants must undertake as well since they must qualify for general admission first before qualifying for scholarship.

General admission & scholarship screening dates are attached (got this online).

FRSC Job Applicants To Write JAMB Test

Few days after it conducted a test for applicants seeking recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force, JAMB is set to conduct a similar test for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the disclosure in an interview on Sunday in Lagos.

Benjamin said that the patronage by FRSC resulted from the success the board recorded in the recent conduct of recruitment test for the police.

“The corp marshal was at the board a few days ago, where he expressed confidence in the conduct of such third party examination by the board.
“He solicited for a partnership with the board to conduct the corp’s examination coming up soon.
“The examination is for three cadres – officers, marshal inspectorate and road marshal assistant cadres,” Benjamin said.
He advised the prospective candidates for the examination to adhere strictly to instructions to avoid unfounded speculations.

See 12 Habits Every University Student Should Stop Immediately

Your habits as a University Student will greatly affect your life and career. The sad thing is that many of us take this “course” for granted.
Joshua Abuwa, the author of the book “I Choose To Be Great” made a statement, “ In life you don’t decide your future, you decide your habits and your habits decide your future “.

From the above quote, it can be deduced that, the power to decide your future is in your doing and not in your saying. Your habits over-ride your confession.
The lion does not eat grass, not because he is proud. On the other hand, goats eat grass; not because they are humble. It is how things are meant to be. Everything in this world is a function of time and change.
As a University Student, certain high school habits should be off from your dictionary.

In this article, I have outlined the 12 habits every University Student should let go of totally:

A UNIVERSITY STUDENT SHOULD LET GO OF THESE HABITS

1. TRYING TO BE PERFECT:
You are no longer in high school, so, face realities. There is no such thing as a perfect person. It only happens in Hollywood. This is “reallifehood”. Accept the fact that you are not perfect and try to be your best.
See Also: Five persons you need to succeed

2. PROCRASTINATION:
This is time to start getting things done. Do not wait for another time or another person. Make valuable use of your time because; Life is not a game. There is no extra time for you. Therefore, use your limited time to get extra result.

3. DOING NOTHING:
Do not expect anything if you are doing nothing. Don’t be idle in school. Look for what produces the best result for you and stick to it. As a matter of fact, do something new.

4. SHAME OF PAST EVENTS:
Do not be too concerned about past events. If you do not forgive yourself of the past, then you cannot go forward. In addition, don’t major on the minor.

5. PLEASING EVERYONE:
As a university student, don’t try to please everyone around. So long you do what is right, let them say what they like. The key to failure is trying to please every one . As a matter of fact, pleasing everybody is pleasing nobody.

6. MAKE EXCUSES:
Nobody will accept any excuse for your failure. Stop the unnecessary excuses and start taking necessary actions.

7. BLAMING OTHERS:
You are a university student, not a secondary school student. You should start taking full responsibilities for your life.

8. NOT TAKING DECISION:
A closed mouth is a closed destiny, just as a made up mind is a come up destiny. Start taking your own decisions. Don’t let others decide for you.

9. YOUR NEED TO BE RIGHT
Never give up on your right to be wrong.

10. RUNNING FROM CHALLENGES:
Do not run away from challenges that you can fixed. Face your fear. Obstacles are normal to destinies. Your go-through shall eventually lead you to the right destination in life.

11. LISTENING TO OPINIONS:
Don’t let the opinion of others become your reality. To be after what they are saying is to become what they are saying. Have your own opinion.

12. LACK OF CONFIDENCE:
If you do not believe in yourself, nobody will believe you. Believe in yourself and boost your confidence. This is the challenge of many university student s. As a matter of fact, many of them cannot address a group of 10 persons.

See How Sleep And Dreams Help You Learn And Remember Better

Pause and Think: “Why do we really need sleep?”

Imagine you’ve been up all night revising for an important test. Right now, the test questions are facing you with intimidating blank spaces for you to fill in your answers. All the questions seem familiar but you just feel too tired to think clearly. Towards the end of the test, you give up and scribble down a few things on your paper as you realize that you’re most likely not going to get a good grade in this test. Would you have performed better if you had just given yourself a good night’s rest?

What would happen if we didn’t sleep?
Sleep often feels like a perfect waste of time especially when we consider that we spend close to one-third of our lives sleeping. However, medical research has shown that the effects of consistently getting less than the recommended 7 to 8 hours sleep a night for adults and 9 to 10 hours sleep for adolescents are quite significant.

Many students sleep off during class as a result of not getting adequate sleep at night.
What Happened When a Teenager Stayed Awake for 11 Days

The world record holder for the longest period a human has intentionally gone without sleep not using stimulants of any kind is Randy Gardner. In 1965, Randy was still a 16-year old high school student and he stayed awake for 264 hours straight, which is about 11 days.

Gardner was able to beat Stanford University researcher, William Dement in a game of pinball on the tenth day of the experiment. But, all was still not well with him.

According to Claudia Aguirre in a TED-Ed video, after two days of zero sleep, Gardner’s eyes struggled to remain focused, he showed some signs of ataxia (an inability to repeat simple tongue twisters) and he found it difficult to identify objects based purely on touch.

By day three, he became moody and uncoordinated, and by day five he started hallucinating. From then on, he only mumbled a few words whenever he managed to speak, he had great trouble paying attention and forming short-term memories and his mental abilities diminished.

The Guinness Book of Records has stopped listing records for voluntary sleep deprivation in order to discourage further attempts. This is because the effects on Randy were very serious.

While Gardner was fortunate to have recovered from the experiment with no observed long-term physical and mental defects, the rest of us might not be so lucky.

Why Sleep is a Necessity and Not a Luxury?
Many of us, due to societal influence have unconsciously accepted the notion that sleep deprivation is the pathway to achievement. It’s true that most people might not be depriving themselves of sleep as extremely as Randy did in the experiment. However, many people are still losing sleep.

Sleep is not lost time or an elegant way to rest when all our important work is done. Instead, it is an important function during which your body balances and regulates its vital systems. This process affects respiration and regulates everything from circulation to growth and immune response.

Sleep is also very crucial for your brain. In fact, as you drift off, one-fifth of your body’s circulatory blood is being channeled to your brain. A very active period of restructuring that is crucial for how our memory works goes on in the brain during sleep.

Memory consolidation is a process by which information is moved from our short-term memory to our long-term memory. This process is known to prevent memory loss. One of the major factors that contributes to memory consolidation is a good night’s sleep.

How the Different Stages of Sleep Help Us Learn

Sleep is composed of four stages and the different stages of sleep have been shown to help consolidate different types of memories. For instance, declarative memory, is encoded into a temporary store in the anterior part of the hippocampus during the non-REM slow-wave sleep. Declarative memory includes memory of facts you need to remember for a test.

As the cortex and hippocampus continually communicate during this stage of sleep, the memory is repeatedly reactivated to gradually redistribute it for long-term storage in the brain cortex.

A lot more than you think happens while you sleep. |
Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep is the stage where we experience really vivid dreams. This stage is associated with the consolidation of procedural memory. An example is the memory of the piano fingering steps and patterns of a musical piece you’re learning to play.

Finally, recent studies have discovered another major importance of sleep. This is the fact that sleep helps clear out all of the junk that accumulate as a result of our daily thinking.

During sleep, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain increases dramatically. This fluid washes away harmful waste proteins that build up between brain cells during waking hours.

Hopefully, you can see now that getting less sleep in an effort to manage your time harms your long-term health. Furthermore, with little sleep, it is less likely that you’ll retain all the knowledge from your night’s study.

The quality of your sleep directly affects the quality of your waking life. It affects your productivity, learning, creativity, emotional balance and physical vitality. In fact, no other activity delivers so many benefits with so little effort.

Happy Learning!

How Waec Results Are Marked And Graded

Marking Scheme And System Of Waec: Have you ever wondered how Waec 2018 Examination Sheets Would be marked and graded? If you have ever asked the question, how will waec mark and give scores for 2018 exam ? then you are at the right place.

I have already written on when waec will release results for 2018 . You may
click here to read when 2018 Waec results would be released or continue reading for how the waec papers are marked and graded.

Under the new WAEC grading system, the letters A to F are used to indicate how good a result it.

A1 = Excellent = 5% – 100% score
B2 = Very good =70% – 74% score
B3 = Good =65%- 69%
C4 =Credit =60% – 64%
C5 =Credit =55% – 59%
C6 =Credit =50% – 54%
D7 =Pass =45% – 49%
E8 =Pass =40% – 45%
F9 =Failure =0% – 44%

Explanations:
To get an A in Waec 2018 Mathematics, you need to score above 75% in the Exam.  75% means you are able to get 75 questions correctly out of 100 questions.

If you are given 50 questions in a subject, 75% is equal to around 37 questions you answered correctly. This explanation also applies to other grades above.

To know whether you will score An A, B or C, divide the number of questions/marks you think you would get correctly by the total number of questions/marks possible and multiply by 100%.

Example : I was able to answer 40 questions correctly out of 60 total questions given in Oral English. To calculate my percentage score, it is
(40÷60)×100% = 66.67% = B3
Assumption: All questions carry equal mark.

For Waec Theory Questions
Calculate how many marks you are very sure of, then divide my the total marks the questions carry and multiply by 100%.
Example : You are required to answer
5 questions in the theory part. Each question carries 20 marks.

Now, you are able to answer 4
questions and only sure of 15 marks out of total 20 marks f or each question .
The total marks you are sure of here is 15 times 4 = 60
Total number of marks you can get is 20 times 5 = 100
Your percentage score is (60÷100)×100% = 60% = C4

Hope You Understand? Feel free to let me know how you feel via the comment box and don’t fail to share this with your friends on social media.

ADDRESS BY MUHAMMADU BUHARI , PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 2018 DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATION , TUESDAY, 29 TH MAY, 2018

My Dear Nigerians !

Today marks the 19th year of our nascent democracy and the 3rd Anniversary of this administration . I am thankful to Almighty God for bringing us thus far . This administration came at a time that Nigerians needed Change, the Change we promised and the Change we continue to deliver . We have faced a lot of challenges on this journey and Nigerians have stood by us in achieving the three cardinal points of this administration namely; Security , Corruption and the Economy .

2 . The commemoration of this year ’s Democracy Day is a celebration of freedom , a salute to the resilience and determination of Nigerians and a recommitment by Government to keep its promise to lead Nigeria into a new era of justice and prosperity .

3 . Public safety and security remains the primary duty of this Government . Before this Administration came into being 3 years ago, Boko Haram held large areas of land spanning several Local Governments in the North East .

4 . Today , the capacity of the insurgents has been degraded leading to the re -establishment of authority of government and the release of captives including , happily, 106 Chibok and 104 Dapchi girls, and over 16 , 000 other persons held by the Boko Haram.

5 . In order to minimize the impact of the insurgency on Internally Displaced Persons, Government has established secure IDP Camps and has improved the mechanism for the distribution of basic aid , foods and essential commodities using various strategies in collaboration with local and international Organizations .

6 . Efforts are in process for resettlement of IDPs in their home communities by providing schools , hospitals , clinics , water and sanitation to facilitate a quick return to economic activities . Government is similarly implementing de -radicalization and rehabilitation programmes to facilitate sustainable peace and development.

7 . The unfortunate incidences of kidnappings , herdsmen and farmers clashes in several communities which have led to high number of fatalities and loss of properties across the country is being addressed and the identified culprits and their sponsors shall be made to face the full wrath of the law . All the three tiers of Government are presently engaged with communities and religious organizations to restore peaceful co -existence among Nigerians .

8 . I want to commend members of the Multinational Joint Task Force drawn from Niger, Benin , Chad , Cameroon and our own country in collaboration with the International Community who are assisting in the fight against insurgency in the North East . I also commend the gallantry of members of our Armed Forces and other security agencies that have continued to provide security for lives and properties across the country . State and Local traditional authorities are helping with much needed intelligence in this fight against insurgency.

9 . This administration is pained over the grievous loss of lives and properties occasioned by the carnage of insurgency and other forms of criminality in the country . I wish to assure Nigerians that we will not rest until all criminal elements and their sponsors are brought to justice . Government is boosting the capacity of our security agencies through recruitment of more personnel , training and procurement of modern equipment , enhancement of intelligence gathering as well as boosting their morale in the face of daunting challenges.

10 . The Niger Delta Region has enjoyed relative peace through social inclusiveness and cooperation of the Elders and the good people of the region. Government is committed to implementing the comprehensive peace , security and development plan for the region. The environmental clean - up of the region which commenced with the launch in Bodo , Ogoni in June , 2016 is progressing satisfactorily . Furthermore farming assets are being revived and investors in cocoa and palm oil plantations are showing serious interest .

11 . The second primary object of this Administration is to fight corruption headlong . Like I have always said , if we don’t kill corruption , corruption will destroy the country . Three years into this Administration , Nigerians and the international community have begun to applaud our policies and determination to fight corruption . We are more than ever before determined to win this war , however hard the road is. I therefore appeal to all well-meaning Nigerians to continue to support us in this fight .

12 . Various policy measures already put in place to stem the tide of corrupt practices are yielding remarkable results . Some of these key reform policies include:
a . The Treasury Single Account ( TSA) has realized Billions of Naira being saved from maintenance fee payable to banks . N200 Billion has also been saved from elimination of ghost workers in public service .
b . The Whistle -Blowing Policy has helped to recover over N500 Billion;
