Modibbo Adama University Of Technology Closed Down Over Religious Violence


The Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola, (formally Federal University of Technology, Yola) has been closed down indefinitely by the University Senate. The closure came following a religious violence that broke out last night between Christian and Muslim students over the result of Student’s Union Government’s (SUG) election.

It is reported that Christian students won 8 of the eleven elective positions, including the SUG president and other major key positions of the union.

Many students sustained various degrees of injuries and properties destroyed by the students were armed with guns, machetes, cutlasses, axes and other weapons.

As of the time of writing this report, students are seen packing their surviving properties to evacuate the university.
