Four Lecturers of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has been suspended for for two month without pay for various forms of misconduct.
The lecturers were found guilty of demanding gratifications from students for Teaching Practice Supervision, extortion of money as appreciation for courses taught, forceful sale of books with threat to students who fail or refuse to buy, as well as refusal to mark examination scripts unless students showed evidence of purchase of book authored by the lecturer even when the book is completely unrelated to their studies.
The Vice-Chancellor who disclosed this to newsmen in his office, commended the students for doing well with the information provided.
He enjoined others with similar circumstances to feel free to report all forms of harassment and extortion and promised to protect them.
Out of the four lecturers, three are from the Department of Secretarial Studies, Faculty of Business Studies while one is from the Department of Curriculum Studies and Instructional Technology, Faculty of Education.
