Top Nigerian Undergraduate Scholarships and How Much They Pay

This is a comprehensive list of the top undergraduate scholarships for Nigerian university students in 100 level, 200 level and so on. Note that the undergraduate scholarships are arranged in order of their worth. You can click on any of the links to get an idea of period of time during the year they are usually available and other details about each of them you may wish to know:



The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is a parastatal of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources established by Decree 25 of 1973 with a mandate to train Nigerians towards active participation in the Oil and Gas Industry. PTDF has over the years awarded many undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships in Oil and Gas courses.

MTN Foundation Scholarship For 200 Level Students
The MTN Foundation Science & Technology Scholarship Scheme is for full time second year students studying in public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics and colleges of education) in Nigeria. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students who may be unable to pay for their tertiary education and aims to recognize and reward academic excellence.

Agbami Medical and Engineering Scholarship For 100 and 200 Level Students

Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited, a Chevron company and operator of the Agbami Field, in its continuous support for capacity building in the Health and Engineering sectors as a strategic feed into the national manpower pool, offers a number of University Scholarships to qualified Nigerian students from ALL states of the Federation.

The Agbami scholarship program , funded by Star Deep and its Agbami partners, is a major component of the Agbami partners’ Social Investment in the strategic development of Health and Education in Nigeria and the Niger Delta in particular.

Worth: Medical awardees = ₦200,000 | Engineering Students awards = ₦100,000



Chevron Nigeria Limited, in collaboration with its Joint Venture partner, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), offers a number of University Scholarship Awards to suitably qualified Nigerian students.

Total Scholarship Scheme For 100 and 200 Level Students
In its determination to promote educational development in Nigeria, Total (E&P) Nigeria Limited awards scholarships to exceptional Nigerian students in secondary and Tertiary institutions as well as those in postgraduate studies.
Total (E&P) regularly invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for its National Merit Scholarship Awards for undergraduate students currently in their 1st and 2nd year of studies in recognized Nigeria Universities.
This is a significant major contribution towards improving the quality of human capital that Nigeria needs for development. It is an empowerment opportunity Nigerian students can benefit from, especially in the host communities where Total (E&P) operate.

ExxonMobil Scholarship For 200 Level Undergraduate Students
Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of its joint venture (JV) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), awards 500
undergraduate scholarships annually to students in Nigerian universities. The scholarship awards are for one academic year initially, and are renewable to cover the duration of approved study, based on the recipients’ academic performance and related reports from the institutions.
The NNPC/MPN JV scholarship is aimed at assisting the Federal Government of Nigeria in the training and development of medium and high level manpower for the country, while also enhancing a possible feeder pool of employable candidates into the company. Some of the candidates have been successful in the company’s recruitment exercise after graduation; however, there is no obligation by ExxonMobil to offer employment to the awardees upon their completion of studies.
Under the NNPC/MPN JV undergraduate scholarship program, 60% of the awards go for core disciplines of Engineering and Geosciences, while 40% are for other approved
business and social sciences related studies. A total of nine approved disciplines are currently covered in the awards which are based strictly on merits as determined from the candidates’ academic records, conduct and performance in the selection tests.
In order to enhance the scholarship awards process and leverage on existing information and communication technologies (ICT), selection of candidates is conducted through an electronic computer-based testing. The e-testing is organized in several centers across the country

Federal Government Scholarship FSB Award For 200, 300 and 400 Levels

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Federal Ministry of Education through the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) offers Local scholarships and Bilateral Educational Agreement (BEA) Oversea Scholarships to Nigerian undergraduates, masters and doctoral students .
All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As and Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate, WAEC or
NECO (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their field of study including English language and Mathematics . Certificates should not be more than Two (2) years old and the age limit is 22 years (minimum age of 18 years and maximum 22 years old at the time of taking up the award).

The Nigeria LNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme started in 1998 as part of Nigeria LNG Limited’s Corporate Social Responsibility to Nigerian Citizens to enhance human capacity development.
The Management of Nigeria LNG Limited regularly invites interested First Year undergraduates in Nigerian Universities to apply for the NLNG Scholarship Award . The purpose of Nigeria LNG Scholarship Award Scheme is to promote academic excellence amongst students in institutions in Rivers State and the rest of the country.
