Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is expecting ‘no miracles’ in terms of team selection ahead of his side’s opening English Premier League (EPL) match against Leicester City on Friday night.
Mourinho’s men have a number of fitness and injury concerns ahead of tonight’s game.
The likes of Nemanja Matic, Antonio Valencia, Diogo Dalot and Marcos Rojo are all carrying injuries that will rule them out of the match at Old Trafford while Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have returned late from World Cup duty.
Speaking on Thursday ahead of Leicester City clash, Mourinho told MUTV: “No miracles. The players with a proper pre-season are fit and they are strong.
“For example, Alexis Sanchez had a good pre-season with lots of matches and lots of minutes. He’s more than ready but you cannot have the players who arrived only last Monday after the World Cup semi-finals or final and three weeks’ holiday. You cannot expect them to be fit.”
Ander Herrera and Eric Bailly picked up knocks in United’s 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich last week, but are both expected to be fit to play a part.
